|primary |name= }} מטע הוא מושב ליד העיר בית שמש השייך למועצה אזורית מטה יהודה ומהווה חלק מיישובי המזלג. היישוב הוקם על ידי עולים מתימן וקלט מאוחר יותר עולים מצפון אפריקה. בשנים האחרונות עבר המושב הרחבה וקלט אוכלוסייה חדשה, בעיקר ילידי הארץ בעלי מקצועות חופשיים שעובדים בערים ירושלים ובית שמש.
היסטוריה עריכה
המושב נמצא באזור הררי מיוער, כשמונה קילומטר דרומית מזרחית לבית שמש בסמוך לכביש 375 בקטע שבין צור הדסה לבין קיבוץ נתיב הל"ה. המושב הוקם בשנת 1950 באדמות הכפר הערבי עלאר שהיה במקום עד למלחמת העצמאות. בתחילה השתייך המושב למועצה אזורית האלה, עד שזו התמזגה בשנת 1964 לתוך מועצת מטה יהודה. המושב משתייך לזרם הפועל המזרחי אך כיום רוב אוכלוסייתו חילונית. השם ניתן למושב על שם המטעים בסביבה ומבוסס על הפסוק (ספר יחזקאל, פרק ל"ד, פסוק כ"ט): "והקימותי להם מטע לשם, ולא יהיו עוד אסופי רעב בארץ ולא ישאו עוד כלימת הגויים". המושב ממוקם בגובה 625 מטר מעל פני הים, את השם הציע זאב וילנאי.
המושב הוקם על ידי עולים מתימן, אשר נטשו אותו כעבור שנתיים, וקלט מאוחר יותר עולים מצפון אפריקה. בעבר, המושב התבסס על מטעי נשירים ועל לול, אך כיום רוב תושביו אינם עוסקים בחקלאות. ביישוב פועל מאז 2002 "יקב נבו" שענביו מגודלים ביישוב[4].
במטע שלושה גני ילדים.
בחלקו הנמוך של מושב מטע, בלב גרעין המושב מצוי "גן המעיין" שהוקם סביב מעיין הכפר הערבי הקדום, עין עלאר. המעיין זורם במשך כול השנה לתוך בריכת בטון רדודה. יובל ראשי של נחל זנוח מתחיל כ-2.5 ק"מ מזרחית למושב מטע, עובר סמוך למעיין וממשיך בדרכו מערבה. כ-1 ק"מ ממערב למושב מטע בוקעים עוד שני מעיינות חשובים נוספים המזינים את נחל זנוח: עין מטע ועין תנור. בשני המעיינות נביעות פעילות בכל מהלך השנה, המשמשות חלק משבילי טיולים חשובים על 'שביל ישראל' העובר באזור. לא רחוק מעין מטע מצוי שביל מטיילים חשוב נוסף: דרך הקיסר, המתחיל בחורבת חנות.
באזור המושב קיים מגוון של חיות בר מקומיות כגון צבאים. נוסף עליהם, חזירי בר וצבועים יובאו לאזור מהגולן.
