נטף הוא יישוב קהילתי בהרי ירושלים, כ-5 ק"מ צפונית מערבית לאבו גוש וכ-8 ק"מ מזרחית ללטרון. היישוב נמצא בין נחל כפירה בצפון לנחל החמישה בדרום, בין שני רכסים בגובה ממוצע של כ-500 מטר מעל פני הים. ביישוב, שבו 71 נחלות מתגוררות כ-100-90 משפחות. מקור שמו של היישוב בכפר הערבי נטאף (אנ') (Nataf نطاف) ששכן בסמוך למקום עד למלחמת העצמאות.
היסטוריה עריכה
היישוב הוקם על קרקע פרטית שנקנתה מערביי הכפר אבו גוש השכן, וחולקה ל-38 חלקות של 5 דונם כל אחת. תהליך הרכישה והעלייה על הקרקע לווה במאבקים משפטיים שבהם הצליחה קבוצת המתיישבים, בעזרת תצלומי אוויר ותעודות ארכיון, להוכיח את הבעלות הערבית על הקרקע. ראשוני המתיישבים עלו לקרקע בשנת 1981, וזאת בטרם הושגו האישורים הדרושים. רק מספר שנים לאחר מכן זכה היישוב להכרה חוקית, ובעקבותיה, בסוף שנות השמונים, נסלל כביש הגישה, והיישוב חובר בהדרגה לרשתות החשמל, המים והטלפון. בתחילת שנות התשעים נוספה ליישוב הרחבה של עוד 33 חלקות של 2 דונם על אדמות מדינה.
גרעין המייסדים התכוון להקים יישוב שתושביו יתפרנסו לפחות באופן חלקי על עבודה במקום, בעיקר בחקלאות. כוונות אלו לא עמדו במבחן המציאות, וכיום (2018) רק מספר קטן מאוד של תושבים עדיין מוצא את פרנסתו במקום או בסביבתו הקרובה. כיום פועלים ביישוב נגרייה, בתי אמנים, דיר עיזים, מסעדת "המטבח של רמה” ומרכז סדנאות.
היישוב ממוקם סמוך למעיין נטף, המהווה יעד פופולרי לטיולים. המעיין נובע כל השנה, ובו אגן נביעה קטן ובור אגירה בצורת פעמון, שגובה המים שבו יכול להגיע לשבעה מטרים עם תום החורף. הירידה לבור המעיין נחשבת למסוכנת, ומטיילים רבים חולצו מבור המעיין כשהם סובלים מתשישות ומהיפותרמיה. בסמוך ליישוב מסלולי טיול אל נחל יתלה ואל נחל כפירה.
עם הקמת היישוב נקבע העיקרון ששליש מחבריו (בעלי הנחלות) יהיו דתיים, אך עם השנים הולך ופוחת מספר התושבים הדתיים. ביישוב קיים בית כנסת ובו שלוש עזרות: גברים, נשים ועזרה מעורבת. בית הכנסת אינו משויך לאחד הזרמים ביהדות.
כיכר הכניסה ליישוב נקראת על שם גדי ערן, שהיה ממקימי היישוב, ונהרג במלחמת לבנון הראשונה.
