|primary |name= }} אַבְטַלְיוֹן הוא יישוב קהילתי בגליל התחתון, בתחומי המועצה האזורית משגב. היישוב נמצא על רכס יודפת, מערבית לקיבוץ יחד ודרומית לעראבה, בדרך להררית, ומשקיף על בקעת בית נטופה. גובה היישוב הוא 450 מטר מעל פני הים. היישוב ממוקם כ-15 קילומטרים ממערב לכנרת, וכ-35 ק"מ מזרחית לעיר חיפה.

היישוב קרוי על שמו של אחד מחכמי הזוגות במשנה (שמעיה ואבטליון), אבטליון היה דמות מוכרת מהתקופה הראשונית של המשנה.

היסטוריה

הממשלה החליטה על הקמת היישוב בדצמבר 1983, במסגרת תוכנית המצפים לייהוד הגליל. היישוב נוסד כמושב שיתופי בשנת 1987, על ידי גרעין של עולים מארגנטינה חברי תנועת "ישראל הצעירה" (תנועת הנוער של הציונים הכלליים) שחלמו לייסד מושב שיתופי בארץ, יישוב ראשון לתנועתם. באוגוסט נערך טקס העלייה לקרקע של המושב.

חברי ההנהגה העולמית (יו"ר ההנהגה פנחס מאירוביץ, ראש דסק חינוך אריה לויט, ראש דסק אירופה ומאוחר יותר המזכ"ל יצחק אשר) פעלו ללא הרף כדי לקבל את האישור מוועדת ההתיישבות כדי לבסס את המושב, יצחק מודעי קידם את הרעיון עד התגשמותו וגדעון פת התכבד בטקס גזירת הסרט. בשנת 1992 הפך אבטליון ליישוב קהילתי. כיום מתגוררות ביישוב כ־115 משפחות.

אוכלוסייה

לפי נתוני הלמ"ס נכון לדצמבר 2012, המועצה האזורית משגב, בה שוכן היישוב אבטליון, מדורגת 9 מתוך 10, בדירוג החברתי-כלכלי. אחוז הזכאים לתעודת בגרות מבין תלמידי כיתות י"ב בשנת תשע"ב (2011–2012) היה 95.3%.
